Enduring a Heatwave: Why is being Odourless so important for us.

Most Canadians know the smell.

Walking into a Canadian Tire on a hot summer day, the rubber tire smell hits you like a truck. At least, that’s how it feels for my mom and me—we usually cover our noses immediately to avoid the nauseating stench.

Now imagine walking back to your car after it’s been sitting in the sun, opening the door, and being greeted by that same overwhelming rubber smell… coming from your floor mats.

At Findway, we’ve worked hard to prevent this exact scenario. Our goal was to make mats that even people with sensitive noses could live with—and we’ve succeeded. This past weekend, Toronto experienced a major heatwave, and it reminded us how important (and overlooked) this feature really is. Getting into a car that’s been baking in the sun is already uncomfortable. You shouldn’t have to deal with the smell of melting rubber on top of that.

One memorable example was when a young expectant mother came into our store. She had just bought a new car in preparation for her baby and was experiencing strong scent sensitivity during her pregnancy. For her, the smell of rubber—hot or not—was unbearable. She even mentioned that it reminded her of walking into a Canadian Tire.

She had already tried several brands from Amazon without success. But when she walked into our warehouse, surrounded by thousands of TPE rubber mats, she was amazed she didn’t feel nauseous. That’s when we realized just how far we’d come. TPE rubber is known to be low-odour, but we had refined our formula to a point where the difference was significant even to those with extreme sensitivity.

To our surprise, she picked up one of our mats, held it right up to her nose, and smiled. No bad reaction—just relief. She left as a happy customer.

While we often get compliments on how odour-free our mats are, it’s important to note that everything has some scent, and smell is subjective. Not all TPE rubber mats are the same. We’ve spent years fine-tuning our manufacturing process to get to the point where the odour is barely noticeable, even in hot weather.

That said, if you’re someone who’s sensitive to rubber smells, our mats are worth a try. Plus, we offer a hassle-free return policy so you can test them out for yourself with confidence.

Try our TPE rubber mats this summer. Breathe easy—even when your car’s been baking in the sun.
